KingMaker Books ~ Let Imagination Reign

Book Two:           Warrior's Son

The series continues in Warrior's Son. Stephen (or the name of your hero) is now commander of a large ogre army. He and his three friends lead the army to the south where the Dwarves are besieged by forces controlled by the Dark Wizard. Their attempt fails however, and they retreat to the castle. There they meet Marshadale, leader of the dwarves, and his second-in-command, Amanda, captain of the dwarf guard.

Kevin challenges Marshadale who responds by sending the boys on a quest deep into the heart of enemy territory, to the City of Flame-the mountain fortress of the Dark Wizard. Aided by three dwarf scouts, Jordan, Jennifer, and Sarah, the boys discover a great deal; about themselves and the sword Stephen carries.

Warrior's Son

An exerpt from the story:

(remember, in your book Stephen is changed to the name of your hero)

The tunnel river itself was dark. Light only shown where it intersected another passage. Kevin provided just enough illumination so that they didn’t bump into the walls or each other. It’s surprising how little light one needs to see, Stephen thought.

Kevin turned. “Are we there yet? I can’t feel my feet.”

“Your feet!” Cevy shouted. “My legs are numb. Stephen, we’ve got to get out of this river soon or I’ll freeze to death.”

Stephen lifted his head. “Bonnie says it’s–”

“To arms!” Cevy shouted. “Something’s coming down the river. Fast. A bunch of them.”

“Come on!” Kevin pointed to an opening several dozen paces ahead. He strode for the exit. “Let’s get out of the water.”

Halfway there something large raced past his leg in the water. In a split second, many more tore around him, creating a great confusion in the rapid stream. Cevy stabbed at the water and a new, darker color swept down the icy river.

An instant later a dark green lizard popped out of the froth. It stabbed at Kevin with a short spear. He sliced the creature in half. Behind him the others fought several score of lizardmen, some of which were as tall as Tyler or the girls.

Tyler stabbed one with an arrow before notching it and sending it into the back of a lizardman attacking Sarah. Dead lizard bodies floated past his bone-chilled legs.

One of the dead bodies bumped into Stephen. He fell to one knee and stuck a hand in the frigid water. Pain like needles shot up his arm. He ripped his hand out of the water.

“Bonnie!” Coco shouted in his ear. “She’s fallen!”
